Zygnematophyceae

Zygnematophyceae is a class of green algae in the division Charophyta. It contains the order Zygnematales. The Desmidiales emerged within the Zygnematales. The Zygnematophyceae are the sister clade of the Mesotaenium, together forming the sister clade of the land plants.
