Frisian Islands
The Frisian, or Wadden Islands, are a North Sea archipelago off the coast of the Netherlands, Germany and Denmark. Its major villages include Harlingen, Hindeloopen and Leeuwarden in the Netherlands, while Sylt in Germany is a well-known beach resort. Wadlopen (mudflat walking) is a popular local pastime. The island chain's mud flats, beaches and rolling hills protect animals such as birds, seals and native horses.
