Poor Kamal (Rajesh Khanna) and wealthy Sunita Bhatnagar (Mumtaz) meet, fall madly in love and get married. But their newlywed bliss is short-lived, as Kamal soon grows irrationally jealous over the friendship between his wife and his best friend, Mohan (Sanjeev Kumar).
