Baarìa

From the 1920s through to the 80s, follow the story of Peppino, who comes from a poor shepherding family. The film tracks both Peppino's romance with local beauty Mannina and his political awakening - which will take him to the upper reaches of the Communist Party - as well as the social changes within the town: life under the Fascists, the influence of the Mafia, and the dominance of the Catholic Church and Christian Democrats.
