Below the Sahara
Belgian nature explorers Armand and Michaela Denis investigate the jungles and plains of sub-Saharan Africa. As is often the case with this kind of colonial-era safari documentary, several scenes are staged for the cameras, including a purported gorilla attack on a native village and a lengthy sequence in which the fetching Michaela rides a tamed ostrich. These are interspersed with fascinating footage of enormous herds of impalas, elephants, zebras and other now-endangered animals.
