In 1989, Deutsche Bank spokesman Alfred Herrhausen was killed by a car bomb. The main suspect was a well-known militant leftist, Wolfgang "Gaks" Grams, who had gone into hiding earlier in the decade to evade arrest and killed himself before he could be arrested and tried.
