Captain Corelli's Mandolin
This poignant documentary tells the story of pioneering and self-educated photographer Edward S. Curtis during the waning days of Native American culture. In 1900, Curtis secures funding from Theodore Roosevelt and J. P. Morgan to embark on a cross-country effort to capture our country's native tribes in picture and sound recordings. At great personal cost, including financial ruin and divorce, Curtis renders the most complete repository of image and sound of numerous now-vanished cultures.
