In 19th-century Spain, a group of nuns gets a surprise when a baby girl is abandoned at their convent. The sisters rise to the occasion and decide to raise the infant, who is given the name Teresa (Maribel Verdú). As the orphaned girl grows older, she starts to develop romantic longings that are fulfilled when she meets Pablo (Carmelo Gomez).
