Music professor and cellist Gerard (Jean-Hugues Anglade) is on a road trip when he's involved in a car accident and ends up under the care of a nurse, Megan (Connie Nielsen). As their friendship evolves, she invites him to meet her strange sister, Dominique (Mia Kirshner), and father, Robert (Frank Langella).
