In 1942, an Amsterdam family, including 5-year-old Jonah (Luke Petterson) and his mother (Juliet Aubrey) and father (Jean-Hugues Anglade), are forced into a concentration camp as the Nazi occupation of Holland begins. As his parents suffer from mental and physical debilitations, the boy endeavors to make friends and find a place of safety within the camp.
