Infantry paratrooper Chick Allen (Dean Martin) summons his close friend, bumbling entertainer Hap Smith (Jerry Lewis), to Fort Belding to assist in putting on a revue. Explaining that commanding officer Gen. Timmons (Ray Teal) dislikes and bans "amateur" shows, Chick believes his and Hap's act will restore the general's faith in soldier entertainment.
