Kid Nation

Forty kids, ages 8 to 15, spend 40 days without parents in Bonanza City, N. M. , a ghost town where they try to create a community. They cook their own meals, haul their own water, clean their own outhouses and even run businesses. Four peer leaders are elected who pass laws and set bedtimes.
