"Michael: Tuesdays & Thursdays" tells the story of an unconventional friendship between two people who have been seeing each other twice a week for more than a decade. But the relationship didn't start out as a friendship, it began as a doctor-patient relationship, and it continues in that respect. Dr. David Storper is a psychiatrist who helps his patients lead "normal" lives by using time-limited exposures to neutralize fear-inducing stimuli. Michael is Dr. Storper's most-challenging patient, wracked by a litany of anxieties centered around mundane things -- cars, bridges and women among them. David knows more about Michael than anyone else does and is, in a sense, Michael's best friend -- but maybe not for the reasons that Michael would want him to be.
