Monsieur Batignole
During the German occupation of France, Edmond Batignole (Gérard Jugnot) quietly operates a butcher shop, refusing to participate in politics. His daughter is engaged to Pierre-Jean Lamour (Jean-Paul Rouve), a Nazi-collaborator playwright. A Jewish child, Simon (Jules Sitruk) comes to Edmond's doorstep and asks for asylum after police arrest his family. He agrees to hide the boy from the authorities.
