Mary Jane (Lois Wheeler) travels to Connecticut to visit her old friend Eloise (Susan Hayward), whom she hasn't seen for seven years. During that time, Eloise -- who is is unhappily married and has a poor relationship with her daughter, Ramona (Gigi Perreau) -- has become an alcoholic.
