The Great Profile
Fired from a movie for persistent drunkenness, actor Evans Garrick (John Barrymore) is abandoned by his frustrated wife, Sylvia (Mary Beth Hughes), and weary agent, Boris (Gregory Ratoff). Novice writer Mary Maxwell (Anne Baxter) pleads with Evans to star in her dramtic play, which her wealthy boyfriend will produce. Convinced the play will lure back Sylvia and Boris, Evans agrees. With Sylvia co-starring, the play is nearly a flop until Evans turns it into a comedy while performing drunk.
