The Lady with a Lamp
In the early 1840s, Florence Nightingale (Anna Neagle), daughter of a respected, wealthy Englishman, shocks her parents by choosing an education in nursing over her duty to marry and raise a family. Years later, in defiance of chauvinistic government officials and with only the support of Secretary at War Sidney Herbert (Michael Wilding), Florence brings many of the nurses she has trained into the Crimea, to tend to war-ravaged soldiers with her progressive nursing methods.
