Ove Rolandsen (Bjørn Floberg) lives in a small Norwegian village and works as a telegraph operator. When he's not sending messages for the townspeople, Ove seduces lonely women and works on various inventions. But there's one woman whom Ove desires above all -- Elise Mack (Marie Richardson), the daughter of a fish glue magnate (Jarl Kulle). She is due to marry a wealthy shipping captain (Ole Ernst).
