In the 1930s, 18-year-old factory worker Paulette (Elise Guilbault) begins an affair with Belley (Michel Forget), a wealthy married man. However, she soon tires of being comfortably taken care of but hidden away and marries insurance salesman Frank (Luc Picard) -- who proves to be a callous and unfaithful husband.
