Nat Serling

Nat Serling (Denzel Washington), a combat veteran, is assigned to investigate the death of Capt. Karen Walden (Meg Ryan), a medevac pilot killed in heroic circumstances. She's being considered for a posthumous Medal of Honor, and if her story checks out, Walden will be the first woman so recognized.
