About 55th (West Lancashire) Infantry Division
The West Lancashire Division was an infantry division of the British Army, active during both the First and Second World Wars. The division was raised in 1908 following the creation of the Territorial Force, with the intent of being a defensive formation to protect the county of Lancashire in the event of an invasion.
