Biography. Abel was a Friend (Quaker) Abel Chapman (portrait) was born in 20 Aug 1694 in Whitby, Yorkshire, England. He is the son of Mary Chapman and William Chapman. Abel married Susannah Lotherington, daughter of John Lotherington and Elizabeth Tiplady, on 25 Jan 1720 in Pickering, Whitby, Yorkshire.
