Agnes Haumann was born in Budapest.Hungary in 1891.She was the seventh of eight children.She was educated in a girls gymnasium in Budapest.and then studied at the Royal Academy of Music in Vienna.Austria.

In 1910.Haumann became the first female orchestral conductor in the Austro-Hungarian Empire.when she was appointed conductor of the Allgemeiner Deutscher Musikverein women s orchestra in Vienna.She conducted the orchestra until 1912.when she moved back to Budapest.She then served as a conductor in the Budapest Philharmonic Orchestra.and became an honorary member of the Hungarian Academy of Music in 1915.
