Bahr Yussef

The Bahr Yussef is a canal which connects the Nile River with Fayyum in Egypt. In ancient times, it was known as Mer-Wer. This project was built at the time of Amenemhat III, who was also known as Moeris. The Arabic name refers to the prophet Yusuf, the Quranic counterpart of the Biblical Joseph.
