About Behind Closed Doors: The American Family
Privacy is an afterthought in this docuseries, which attempts a raw, authentic portrayal of what family life is all about in America. Three families from across the country allow cameras to record every waking -- and nonwaking -- moment, a "hands-off" approach that allows viewers an intimate look into the subjects' daily lives. The households profiled represent what might be considered typical U. S. families, each with different ups, downs, and associated drama to highlight. There's the couple with the "perfect on the outside" relationship, which now shows cracks; the live-in duo who are struggling with the idea of marriage; and long-married childhood sweethearts dealing with infidelity issues.
