Brita Sofia Hesselius was a Swedish daguerreotype photographer. She was likely the first professional female photographer of her country. Hesselius was born in Alster parish in the Karlstad Municipality as the daughter of Olof Hesselius, inspector of an estate, and Anna Katarina Roman.
