James Babcock (better known as Captain James Babcock, commissioned sometime before 1690 Captain of Militia in Westerly, Rhode Island) was the eldest child of John Babcock and Mary Lawton. He was born in Westerly, Rhode Island about 1663; and died there 1736-37.
