George Pell: the court conceded cardinal the sexual abuse conviction

Cardinal George Pell has been freed from jail after Australia raised the highest court of his conviction for sexual abuse.

The former Vatican-Treasurer, 78, was the highest-ranking Catholic figure who ever went to jail for these crimes.

In 2018, a jury found that he abused two boys in Melbourne in the 1990s.

But The High Court of Australia overturned The Verdict on Tuesday, bringing an immediate end to Cardinal Pell is sentenced to six years in prison.

The Australian clergy, his innocence had maintained since he was accused by the police in June 2017.

His case rocked the Catholic Church , where he was one of the Pope's most senior advisers.
