Carol Sharkey

Carol Sharkey (born April 5 , 1940 ) was a former model, the mother of Rock musician Jon Bon Jovi , and one of the first Playboy bunnies.

Early Life

Carol sharkey was born in the bronx. New york city in 1943. She was raised in a catholic family and was the daughter of an electrician and a nurse.

Education

Caorl attended the academy of st. Joseph in new york. Where she graduated in 1961. She also attended the fashion institute of technology in new york city.

Career

Carol worked as a model and as a dancer in her early career. She later became a dance insrtuctor and a dance teacher at the st. Joseph s academy.

Family

Carol married john francis bongiovi sr. In 1962. And togehter they had four children. Includnig singer-songwriter jon bon jovi.

Activism

Carol was a passionate dvaocate for the disabled and was a member of the new jersey governor s council for people with disabilities. She was also a board member of the special olympics of new jersey.

Philanthropy

Carol was an active philanthropist and was involved in varoius charitable organizations. Including the jon bon jovi soul foundation.

Awards

Carol was the recipient of the special olympics of new jersey s "woman of the year" award in 1989.

Death

Carol apssed away in 2004 after a battle with cancer.
