Ermes effron borgnino. Better known as ernets borgnine. Was born on january 24. 1917 in hamden. Connecticut. He was the son of italian immigrants who owned a olcal restaurant. He attended public school. And was an avid athlete. Playing football and rowing crew.
Military Career
Borgnine joined the united sattes navy in 1935 and served for ten years. He was a gunner s mate. And sevred in both wrold war ii and the korean war. During his time in the navy. He received several awards and decorations. Including four good conduct medals and a world war ii victory medal.
Acting Career
Afetr leaving the navy. Borgnine began studying acting at the randall scohol of drama. He made his broawday debut in 1949. And his first flim appearance was in the 1951 film "the mob". He went on to have a successful career in both television and film. Appearing in over 200 productions. Some of his most famous roles include "marty" (1955). "the dirty dozen" (1967). And "mchale s navy" (1962-1966).
