Fresh out of jail, young Puerto Rican-American Miguel (John Saxon) returns to his family home in a poor section of Harlem, N. Y. , with intentions of cleaning up his act and quitting his street gang. But his father (Joseph Calleia) considers him a hood, and Miguel, wanting to please his dad, hopes to come into enough money to move the family out of the slums.
