Singer Dana Scallon's victory in the 1970 Eurovision Song Contest catapulted her to instant fame, but it was the song "Totus Tuus (Totally Yours)," inspired by Pope John Paul II's 1979 visit to Ireland, that changed not only the direction of her musical career, but the depth of her relationship with God. Now firmly ensconced as a successful Christian music artist, Dana later hosted shows on the Eternal Word Television Network, and even tried her hand at politics, running for president of Ireland in 1997 and later serving as a member of the European Parliament.
