David Hicks Life story
Chaplain David Harlan Hicks is a retired American army officer who served as the 21st Chief of Chaplains of the United States Army from 2003 to 2007. Hicks began his career in 1958 and was stationed as a patrolman in the Korean Demilitarized Zone in 1965.
Amazon £250,000 to bookshops funds stunned trade
Online retailer Amazon, accusing the long, brick-and-mortar book sales, has stunned the industry by making a donation of £250,000 to a Fund to support the bookstores hit by coronavirus.
The tech giant first, the donation made on a "low-key" basis, said The Book trade charity.
But speculation grew, The Charity revealed that Amazon was The Donor .
Chief executive David Hicks said he realized that some of The Book sellers would find it difficult.
He told The Bbc that The Book trade charity, to help The Book industry, from publishers, bookshops.
As part of its efforts, it runs a Fund to help The Book dealer in the financial distress after being forced to close by the pandemic.
Mr Hicks said: "Amazon came to us and said that she would like to help some money in our Fund, especially in This Time and that you would prefer it to be low-key. "
As a result of The Charity to avoid naming Amazon tried, although the company had not insisted on anonymity, said he.
