About Easy Rider
Wyatt (Peter Fonda) and Billy (Dennis Hopper), two Harley-riding hippies, complete a drug deal in Southern California and decide to travel cross-country in search of spiritual truth. On their journey, they experience bigotry and hatred from the inhabitants of small-town America and also meet with other travelers seeking alternative lifestyles. After a terrifying drug experience in New Orleans, the two travelers wonder if they will ever find a way to live peacefully in America.
Peter Fonda, star of Easy Rider, dies aged 79
Peter Fonda died peacefully at his home in Los Angeles , surrounded by relatives, His Family said
Peter Fonda , The Star , co-writer and producer of the 1969 Cult Classic Easy Rider , has died at the age of 79.
In a statement, His Family said he suffered respiratory failure due to lung cancer, and died peacefully at home in Los Angeles .
His older sister Jane Fonda added: "I Am very sad. He was my sweet-hearted baby brother. The Talker of The Family .
"I have had beautiful alone time with him these Last Days . He went out laughing. "
Peter Fonda was part of a veteran Hollywood family. As well as being the brother of Jane Fonda , he was also The Son of actor Henry Fonda , and father to Bridget, also an actor.
Easy Rider , in which Fonda appeared alongside its director Dennis Hopper and a young Jack Nicholson , became a Cult Classic and earned Fonda an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay.
Fonda played a biker in the film - a role he would take up A Number of times throughout his career.

Born in 1940 in New York City, Fonda lost his mother when he was 10 years old.
On his 11th birthday, he accidentally shot himself with a rifle and almost died.

On his website he said: "Part of my lifestyle you should all remember is having fun. Being funny is a big part of it. After All , if one is in tune, funny is the tune to play. Giving laughter is more fun than giving advice. Giving laughter while giving advice is the jackpot. "
"While we mourn the loss of this sweet and gracious man, we also wish for all to celebrate his indomitable spirit and love of life," The Family 's statement said.
