Edward Asahel Birge Life story
Edward Asahel Birge was an American professor and administrator at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He was one of the pioneers of the study of limnology, and served as acting president of the university from 1900 to 1903 and as president from 1918 to 1925. Birge was born in Troy, New York.
