Emmanuelle Charpentier Life story
Emmanuelle Marie Charpentier is a French professor and researcher in microbiology, genetics, and biochemistry. As of 2015, she has been a director at the Max Planck Institute for Infection Biology in Berlin. In 2018, she founded an independent research institute, the Max Planck Unit for the Science of Pathogens.
Three scientists win Nobel for 'click' chemistry

The Nobel Prize in Chemistry has gone to Carolyn Bertozzi, Morton Meldal, and Barry Sharpless for their work on snipping molecules together, known as click chemistry.
The Winners will share prize money of 10 million Swedish Krona (£800,000).
Last Year 's Award went to two scientists who developed tools for building molecules.
