About Ernest Angell
Ernest Angell served as President of the American Civil Liberties Union for 19 years, from 1950 to 1969. Angell was born in Cleveland in 1889. When he was 9 years old, his father was killed in the sinking of the SS La Bourgogne. He graduated from Harvard College, Harvard Law School and Bard College.
