Farmers' Market Flip

The rise in popularity of farmers markets in recent years stems from the desire of people to buy some of the best seasonal ingredients available from local producers. The concept becomes a competition in this series hosted by chef Jeff Mahin. In each episode, two teams of chefs shop for ingredients at a local farmers market, then prepare gourmet meals for hungry market-goers, who can be some of the toughest judges around. In the first round, the teams are tasked with creating dishes that highlight a vendor's star ingredient. The winner of that round gets an advantage for the second challenge, which gives the contestants 20 minutes to shop followed by an hour to prepare their plates -- with surprising twists, such as secret ingredients. The team that gets the most votes earns the $5,000 grand prize. …
