About Final Offer
"Final Offer" is essentially a game show played without a studio audience present. In the hourlong series the "contestants" are sellers of antiques and rare collectibles who get an equally rare opportunity to haggle with four professional dealers -- Jacob Chait, Patrick Painter, Billy Roland and Jordan Tabach-Bank -- eager to outbid one another for the items. One on one, and in the order they choose, the sellers negotiate with the dealers, but there's a catch: Once a seller passes on an offer, there's no turning back. He or she begins the process again with the next buyer in line, hoping the bid they receive is at least as high as the one they just turned down. Let the high-stakes game, in which the highest bidder doesn't always win, begin. Internationally acclaimed artist and sculptor Michael Kalish hosts. … MORE

Teachers' strikes: Keegan says pay deal is final offer
By Vanessa ClarkeEducation reporter
An increased pay deal for teachers is the government's Final Offer , Education Secretary Gillian Keegan has said.
It includes a £1,000 payment this year and a 4. 3% rise for most teachers next.
Some unions are urging members to reject The Deal , with the NEU announcing another two strike days.
If they do, the decision will be passed back to the pay-review body, which recommended a 3% rise from September 2023, Ms Keegan says - and the £1,000 payment for this year would be lost.
Strike actionShe was disappointed unions were advising the rejection of " a fair and reasonable offer" the education secretary said. " We have gone As Far as we can" with negotiations and inflation was expected to be much lower next year, when the pay rise would take effect.
If the pay offer was accepted, " it will be funded, as we know that is important to schools" Ms Keegan added.
But the National Education Union (NEU) is urging its members to vote to reject the pay offer because it is " not good enough" and " is not fully funded".
The result of their ballot will be announced on Monday, 3 April. And if they turn The Deal down, The Next Two Days of strike action in England will be:
The NEU says it is speaking to head teachers to ensure exam preparation for GCSE and A-level students is not interrupted.
Three other unions, the NASUWT, Association of School and College Leaders and National Association of Head Teachers are also balloting members on the offer, with the NAHT also asking if they would take industrial action if it is rejected.
NAHT members first voted to strike in January - But turnout was 42%, below the legal requirement of 50%.
The government says it is giving schools £2. 3bn over The Next two years.
