'Major incident' declared in Hawick as heavy downpours hit
A major incident has been declared in Hawick as torrential rain shut schools and caused travel disruption in The South and west of Scotland.
There are fears that up to 500 properties could be affected by flooding in the Borders town.

And a landslide led to the closure of the B725 near Bankend about six miles (10km) from Dumfries.
Ch Insp Vinnie Fisher said The Police had been monitoring The Situation closely in Hawick and had begun evacuating properties around The River Teviot.
" We Are working with our colleagues at the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and Scottish Borders Council to safely move all of those affected and ensure they are appropriately accommodated for The Time being, " He Said .
