George Oldfield Life story
Godfrey Alexander Oldfield, known as George Oldfield, was a British police detective who finished his career as an Assistant Chief Constable with West Yorkshire Police. He is known for leading inquiries by the force into major crimes, including the M62 coach bombing and the 'Yorkshire Ripper' series of murders.

Northumbria Police said Humble, who had changed his name to John Samuel Anderson , died on 30 July.
West Yorkshire Police detectives, headed by The Force 's assistant chief constable George Oldfield , believed The Letters and tape were genuine and diverted resources to Humble's home town of Sunderland.
