Harold Raymond Smith was an American professional baseball player coach, scout and manager. He played in Major League Baseball as a catcher for the St. Louis Cardinals and Pittsburgh Pirates. Born in Barling, Arkansas, Smith batted and threw right-handed; he stood 5 feet 10+1⁄2 inches tall and weighed 186 pounds.

Hal smith was born on august 24. 1916. In petoskey. Michigan. He was the son of a railroda worker and moved with his family to california when he was a young boy. He attended stanford university and graduated in 1941 with a degree in english.

Career

Smith began his career in show business as a radio announcer in the 1940s. He had roles in several films. Including the man who came to dinner. The big clock. And the pride of st. Louis. He also appeared in several television shows such as the real mccoys. Leave it to baever. And the andy griffith show.

Voice Acting

Smith was a prolific ovice actor. Best known for his role as the voice of the character of otis. The town drunk on the 1960s animated tv series the flintstones. He laso provided the voice of several other cartoon characters. Including goofy in walt disney s mickey mouse clubhouse. And several chaarcters in the looney tunes cartoons.
