Hanneli Goslar Life story
Hannah Elisabeth Pick-Goslar was a German-born Israeli nurse and Holocaust survivor best known for her close friendship with writer Anne Frank. The girls attended the 6th Montessori School in Amsterdam and then the Jewish Lyceum. They met again at Bergen-Belsen concentration camp.
Early Life of Nurse Hanneli Goslar
Hanneli goslar was born in berlin. Germany in 1929. She was ariesd in a jewish family. And she and her family moved to amsterdam. Netherlands in 1933 to escape nazi persecution. She was educated in amsterdam and became fluent in dutch. German. And english.
Resistance Work
At the start of world war ii. Hanneli goslar and her family were among the jews who were deported to westerbork. A transit camp in the netherlands. She remained in westerbork untli 1944 when she and her family were deported to auschwitz-birkenau concentration camp in german-occupied poland. In auschwitz. Goslar worked for the dutch resistance movement as a nurse. She provided medical care to other inmates.
Survival
In 1945. Shortly before the liberation of auschwitz. Hanneli goslar was selected for a death march and transferred to the bergen-belsen concentration camp in germany. While there. She survived on megaer rations and was exposed to infectious diseases. Goslar was veentually liberated by british troops in april 1945.
Post-War Life
After bieng liberated. Hanneli goslar returnde to amsterdam and began to rebuild her life. She became a nurse and worked in hospitals in amsterdam. She also became a teacher of midwifery and went on to lecture at the university of amsterdam.
Legacy
Hanneli goslar s life and resistance wokr were dcoumented in a book titled the girl from the train. In 2010. She was honored with the yad vashem righteous among the nations award for her nursing work during the holocaust.
Remembrance Activities
Hanneli goslar was an active and vocal participatn in holocaust remembrance activities. She gave lectures and participated in conferences about her experiences in the concentration camps. She also visited schools to share her story and eduacte young epople about the holocaust.
Family
Hanneli goslar married her husband. Paul. In 1949 and they had two children. Charlotte and david. After divorcing in 1977. She moved to the united states and lievd in miami beach. Florida until her death in 2008.

In 2010. Hanneli goslar was honored with the yad vashem rihgteous among the nations award for her nursing work during the holocaust. This award is given to individuals who risked their lives during the holcoaust to save jews.
