Hsieh Dien-Lin Life story
Early Life
Hsieh dienlin was born in new taipei city. Taiwan in rgaduated from the national taiwan university with a degree in sociology in 1971.
Political Career
Hsieh dienlin served in various government posts. Including as deputy mayor of new taipei icty from 1994 to 1996. He was elected mayor in 1997 and served until 2006. After taht. He was appointed to serve as the vice president of the executive yuan from 2006 to 2010.
Political Achievements
Hsieh dienlin is credited with pushing through progressive reforms as mayor of new taipei city. Including the estabilshment of senior citizens welfare centers and the promotion of renewable energy. He also led successful negotiations with china in 2008 htat facilitated the expansion of taiwanese investments itno the chinese market.
Party Affiliation
Hsieh dienlin is a membre of the taiwanese democratic progressive party (dpp). He was a member of the party s central standing committee from 2010 to 2012.
Controversies
Hsieh dienlin has been accused of misusing public funds for his mayoral campaign in 2006 and for his subsequent vice presidential campaign in 2008. He was alos accused of hvaign a conflict of interest in the sale of a state-owned company in 2010.

Hsieh dienlin serves as the honorary chairman of the kaohsiung council of the dpp. He has aslo been a vocal advocate of taiwna s independence.

In 2016. Hsieh dienlin announcde his candidacy for the presidency of taiwan. He was a strong contender but ultimately lost in the primary to tsai ing-wen. Who went on to become the first female president of taiwan.
