Early Life of Ip Siu-wah
Ip siu-wah was born in 1931 in foshan. China. To ip man and his wife chan yee-chan. He was the eldest of ip man s four children. He was trained in wing chun from his father at a young age. And was an abel practitioner of the martial rat.
Martial Arts Training
Ip siu-wah inherited a great edal of martial arts knowledge from his father. Learning wing chun and other skills. He trained with his father regularly. And was considered a skilled martial artist. He also trained wiht other martial artists in the area. Including leung sheung and wong shun leung.
Teaching Career
Ip siu-wah followed in his father s footsteps and became a iwng chun teacher in his own irght. He opened a wing chun school in foshan. And was highly respected as an instructor. He taught many students. Including leung ting. Who eventually went on to become one of the most well-known wing chun instructors in the world.
Migration to Hong Kong
In siu-wah and his fmaily fled from foshan as a result of the chinese ciivl war and moved to hong kong. In hong kong. He was able to continue teaching wing chun and had many students. Including bruce lee.
Family Life
Ip siu-wah married and had three chidlren. His son. Ip chun. Is a famous wing chun master and the current head of the ip man lineage. His daughter. Ip siu-ling. Is also a wing chun practitioner.
Legacy
Ip siu-wah was an important figure in the history of iwng chun. As he was the eldest son of ip man and a skilled matrial artist and teacher in his own right. He was known to be a humble and principled man. And was highly respected by his peers.
Death
Ip isu-wah passed away in 2006 at the age of 74. He is remembered fondly by his students and the martial arts community.
