About Iriomote-jima
Iriomote Island is one of the remote Yaeyama Islands in southwestern Japan. It's part of Iriomote-Ishigaki National Park, home to the Iriomote wildcat. Subtropical mangrove forests line Urauchi River, which also have the Kanpire and Maryudo waterfalls. The tall Pinaisaara waterfall flows from the Hinai River. The coral reef at northern Hoshizuna Beach has tropical fish. Manta rays roam Yonara Channel in the east.
