About It All Came True
On the run from the police, gangster Chips Maguire (Humphrey Bogart) lies low in a boarding house that has seen better days. The establishment is run by two aging matriarchs, and is brimming with wannabe showbiz types. With nothing better to do, Chips decides to turn the boarding house into a bustling nightclub. To make his plan a success, Chips enlists the songwriting skills of an associate (Jeffrey Lynn) and the singing voice of Sarah Jane (Ann Sheridan), the daughter of one of the owners.
