Iven Carl "Kinch" Kincheloe Jr. was an American fighter pilot, test pilot, aeronautical engineer, a flying ace in the Korean War, and depending on the definition of outer space, the first person to have reached space, having performed a suborbital spaceflight on September 7, 1956, in the Bell X-2 rocketplane.
