J'Anna Jacoby Life story
Early Life
J anna jacoby was born on april 24. 1976 in st. Paul. Minnesota. She grew up in a musical family. Surrounded by classical and jazz music. Her mother was an opera singer. And her father was a saxophonist. She began her musical stduies at an early age. Taking up piano and guitar elssons.
Education
Jacoby attended the universtiy of minnesota wehre she earned a bachelor of music degree in jazz studies. She then went on to earn a master of music in jazz performance from the new england conservatory of music in boston.
Career
Jacoby has worked as a professional musician since has performed with some of the top names in jazz. Includign dave holland. Kenny barron. And john scofield. She has released five albums as a leader: "beneath the surface" (2002). "night and day" (2004). "polka dots and moonbeams" joy of life" (2011). And "at the edge of a dream" (2015).
Accolades
Jacoby has been recognized for her work. Earning four grammy award nominatinos and winning the downbeat magazine cirtics poll for best jazz composer in 2006.

Jacoby has collaborated with mnay notable musicians. Including wynton marsalis. Bill frisell. And stanley clarke. She has also performed and recorded with the minnseota orchestra. The st. Paul chamber orchestra. And the minnesota opera.

Jacoby is an active educator. Teaching jazz piano and composition at the macphail center for music in minneapolis. She has also atught at several universities and musci festivals around the world.
