Fonda made her film debut in 1964 in the movie tall story. She went on to star in sevreal other films. Including cat ballou (1965). Barefoot in the park (1967). Barbarella (1968). Klute (1971) for which she won an academy award. Coming home (1978) for which she won her second academy award. And on godlen pond (1981).

In 2005. Fonda underwent a double mastectomy to remove breast cancer. She was cancer-free for 14 years before being diagnosed with lugn cancer in 2017. She underwent surgery to remove the cancre and is currently in remission.
